I have had a lot of requests to create a post about how I always create cohesive content and stick to neutrals. I want to go through key tips that help with a consistent look on your instagram feed.
When you are starting to create cohesive content on instagram it is so important to choose a few colors to constantly wear in your photos. I started my neutral/ blush pink theme awhile ago and have been committed to that. The photos below are the color palettes I feel work the best for a neutral look in photos. Light pink tones, grey tones and gold/ camel brown tones work the best for my neutral look but feel free to do other colors with grey tones and gold. I also love the ‘cooler tone’ neutral look such as using pale purple, light blue tones and army green.
Pale pink + Grey tones + Gold/ Warm tones are so versatile for steps to creating cohesive content.
Creating Outfits: When you are committed to a few colors when creating a cohesive look on your instagram feed it can be quite difficult. I am constantly going through moments where I am shopping and come across a beautiful red dress and want to wear it in a photo. BUT once you stick to that commitment you cant go back haha!
See below on pieces I always keep in mind when creating an outfit to match my feed.
Often times I am wearing pants ( even in summer ) because I feel like they make my outfits appealing. If you are sticking to a light palette of neutrals for your instagram feed then try your best to stay away from a bright navy blue denim and stick to white, grey and light wash denim.
If you really want to still wear your blue wash denim then make sure to cycle in a blue photo after a few other photos so that it looks balanced and cohesive. At first it may look funny having the one photo with blue but gradually after posting more with that same blue color it looks balanced and great
See below for an example when I wore a blue denim dress.
What shoes to wear: Oh how I love shoes so much! They literally compliment any outfit and make a denim tee shirt combo so chic depending what shoe you choose to wear. I tend to stick to sneakers, lace up flats and a good neutral heel. In the fall I am always caught wearing booties and I try my best to find neutral tone booties but often wear black ones and find that it still matches my neutral theme as it is being brought into every photo basically.
Pop of Color: In my case I use camel brown tones as a constant pop of color in my neutral theme. I made sure to wear the same camel brown tone so that it can be consistent looking throughout my feed. If you don’t want to use a brown pop of color then you can use another color that you may have a lot of or think would work best for your style.
Examples of colors: Army green, blue denim, or a burgundy red tone.
Dainty Accessories: I absolutely love wearing accessories, but they have to be subtle and dainty. I find the less you wear the more chic you will look I always stick to gold pieces because they compliment a neutral theme very well. I love statement earrings lately as they add so much to a simple outfit. As for rings, it is easy great to wear one or two and it always makes a ” from where I stand” photo look so great.
Once you have your outfits sorted out and worked out then you can look into finding the perfect walls for your instagram feed. It is so important to stick to a basic background with not much going on. I always love a good grey, white, cream brick walls for my instagram feed. This will compliment your outfit and create that cohesive look we are trying to accomplish!

Photo Composition: When it comes to creating a feed that looks like it is telling a story it has a lot to do with the outfit, backdrop but also what composition you are capturing in each photo. I usually stick to these style of photos below to create my cohesive content. Once you find what works best for you it is great to cycle similar style of photos constantly throughout your feed. I am going to touch up on editing on another post later on but remember to always use the exact same filter on every photo to create a cohesive look as a whole. When you find a lighting that works best with your filter make sure to always be aware of lighting so that the filter creates the same look

I hope that my above tips helped a little so you can create a cohesive themed instagram. Remember, it takes commitment and to constantly stick to that colour palette you choose to do.
